Atiku’s son tests positive to Coronavirus

The son of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria one time vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has tested positive for COVID-19. Mr Atiku Abubakar made this known via his verified Twitter handle late Sunday evening. “My son has tested positive to coronavirus. The @NCDCGov (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management. I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real,” he wrote on Twitter. This brings the total number of cases in Nigeria to 28. Two of the infected have fully recovered and have been discharged while no death has occurred from the disease in Nigeria. A breakdown shows that Lagos has the highest number of confirmed cases with about 19. Another Case of Coronavirus Discovered in Lagos: four new positive cases now

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, has said four new positive cases have been confirmed in Lagos State. At a briefing on Wednesday, Abayomi said the four new cases were in addition to the six cases who were in isolation. With the new cases, Nigeria now has 12 positive cases of coronavirus – 11 in Lagos and one in Ekiti. However, one later tested negative and was discharged. NYSC shuts down orientation camps over coronavirus outbreak

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) management has shut down all the orientation camp nationwide over the spread of coronavirus. The directive, which came from the NYSC headquarters in Abuja early Wednesday morning disrupted the orientation camp of the 2020 Batch A Stream 1, across the 37 centres in the country. The Lagos State NYSC Coordinator, Eddy Megwa, told corps members during morning meditation on the parade ground to leave the orientation camp as soon as possible. “We have been asked to close down all orientation camps and discharged the corps members to their various places of primary assignment,” Megwa said. He said the abrupt ending of the camp was part of preventive measures taken by NYSC against the spread of deadly coronavirus in the country. From experience it is advisable to get to camp the very first day so that you will finish up with the numerous clearance and verification in camp.
