What We Plan To Do With Ghost Corpers – NYSC Speaks

Corps members who have the habit ghosting their service year have been sternly warned by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
According to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), those who fail to report for service in the Service Corps in the manner directed by the Directorate ”is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of N2000.00 or to imprisonment for a term of 12 months, or to both such fine and imprisonment.”
In a statement through its Twitter account yesterday, the corp said ”This is to inform all eligible Nigerian graduates that NYSC Management has recently commenced the process of prosecuting mobilized graduates who willfully failed to turn up for National Service especially during. 2019 Batch ‘C’ Service Year.
”The decision is in compliance with Section 13 (1) (a) of the NYSC Act which stipulates that any person who fails to report for service in the Service Corps in the manner directed by the Directorate or as the case may be prescribed pursuant to the provisions of this Act…” is guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine of N2000.00 or to imprisonment for a term of 12 months, or to both such fine and imprisonment.
The management, however, gave another chance to all 2019 Batch ‘C’ mobilized graduates who failed to turn up for service to re-register on the portal once it opens for 2020 Batch ‘A’ registration, or risk facing the full wrath of the law.
The management further stated that they do so immediately while maintaining that it is the last warning it would be dishing out
